Paravana is a story about a young girl living in Afghanistan with her family. Living in Afghanistan brings her family troubling situations at times as of the known problems and war in the area of Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan. Quickly into the book, her father is arrested by the Taliban for unknown reasons, meaning Parvana and the rest of her family must help eachother through struggling situations. They live in a small house with limited rooms and small spare space, but there are many members in the family, 4 children and 2 parents. As of Parvana's father being arrested, her mother and sister think of an amazing idea to make Parvana look like the opposite gender. As of not being able to roam freely without a male in Afghanistan, the plan works as she is dressed as a male, with a bonus haircut and manly voice. Pavana gets to the market, buys the food for her family and gets home safely. these are only som of many scenes in the book "Parvana". Author Deborah Ellis has expressed a story that delivers powerful impact on the reader, the story line is very interesting and the theme of survival kept me reading continuously.
